Designs of Distinction® Introduces Radiused Bases: The Foundation of Curved Design [For the Designer]

New structural components allow designers to create curved islands and vanities with stain-ready hardwoods or textural tambour applications.

Chicago, IL – As the kitchen and bath industry embraces the curved movement, Designs of Distinction® introduces Radiused Bases—a versatile, structural component designed to support countertops while providing a seamless curved aesthetic.

Unlike decorative trim that is applied after the fact, the Radiused Base is a functional architectural element. It sits directly beneath the countertop, acting as both the structural support and the defining visual curve of the island or vanity.

What It Is:

A structural curved component designed to support heavy stone or solid surface countertops. Available in a variety of North American hardwoods, these bases arrive unfinished and ready for stain or paint.

How To Use It/Design Applications:

• Stain or Paint: Because they are available in hardwood species, these bases can be stained to match cabinetry doors perfectly, or painted for a monolithic look.

• Texture & Depth: Create a high-end, tactile focal point by applying beaded tambour to the curve. The base acts as the perfect substrate for flexible materials, allowing for ribbed or fluted aesthetics that are trending in 2026.

• Toe Kick Customization: Available with or without toe kick space. Specify with a toe kick for a uniform, floating look around a working island, or without for a grounded, furniture-style vanity that sits flush to the floor.

The Designs of Distinction team says, “More than just a curve, this is a structural solution. Whether stained, painted, or wrapped in beaded tambour, the Radiused Base allows designers to support the countertop while achieving the soft, organic lines that define modern living.”
