Designs of Distinction® Launches Art Deco–Inspired Corner Mouldings at KBIS 2026
New architectural components transform sharp cabinet edges into refined, tactile curves.
Chicago, IL – The sharp, clinical edges of the past decade are softening. Influenced by the resurgence of Art Deco geometry and modern European interiors, designers are seeking ways to make spaces feel more organic, calming, and human-centered. To support this shift, Designs of Distinction® introduces Radiused Corner Mouldings, a new architectural component designed to bring elegance and dimension to modern cabinetry.
Part of the “Design without Edges” campaign, these mouldings are not merely decorative trim; they are structural transitions. They allow designers to replace the harsh 90-degree corners of islands, vanities, and pantries with smooth, continuous curves that invite touch.
What It Is:
A high-density MDF component featuring a precise, soft radius. It is designed to be the “cornerstone” of a cabinet or furniture piece, bridging the gap between two linear panels.
How to Use It / Design Applications:
• The “Wrapped” Look: While supplied unfinished for paint, these mouldings are excellent substrates for flexible veneers. Apply a vertical grain veneer over the radius to mimic bent wood, creating a seamless, high-end furniture aesthetic.
• The Softened Island: Use on the exposed vertical corners of a kitchen island to improve flow and reduce hip-bruising sharp angles in high-traffic zones.
• Art Deco Revival: Paint in high-gloss lacquer to accentuate the way light hits the curve, channeling 1920s luxury.
“By swapping out harsh corners for gentle curves, designers make kitchens and baths not just prettier, but more comfortable and livable,” said Kathy Constantine, Designs of Distinction Brand Founder.
