Designs of Distinction® Introduces the Heritage Post for Furniture-Inspired Kitchen Design
New hardwood island post translates one of the company’s most requested custom profiles into a readily available stock component.

CHICAGO, IL — Designs of Distinction® [DOD] announces the introduction of the Heritage Post, a new solid hardwood island leg inspired by traditional English kitchens, freestanding worktables, and heirloom furniture.
The Heritage Post is one of the first new leg designs added to the company’s stock collection in several years. The profile was among DOD’s most frequently requested custom leg designs throughout 2025 and 2026, reflecting renewed interest in furniture-style islands, expressive wood grain, and kitchens designed to feel collected over time.
Featuring a softly rounded upper post, restrained transitional details, a tapered lower profile, and a turned foot, the Heritage Post balances traditional craftsmanship with a clean, versatile silhouette. It can be incorporated into kitchen islands, preparation tables, vanities, furniture, and custom millwork.
The design complements the growing popularity of freestanding kitchen furniture and prominent natural wood materials. Its traditional proportions bring warmth and architectural presence to both classic and transitional interiors.

Made in the USA from North American hardwoods, the Heritage Post measures 3″ x 3″ x 34-1/2″. Multiple hardwood species are planned, with final availability to be announced.
